Teaching Handwriting: Our Handwriting Scheme
At Crookham Infant School we use Kinetic Letters as our handwriting scheme.
We use a 'Move it, Say it, Write it' approach to handwriting. Developing our gross and fine motor skills and using the air, sand and white boards to practise our formation.
We learn how to hold our pencil using the Pencil Hold song. The children also use the 'Slide, Slope, Push' method to help them with navigating their work space. Children who write with their left hand will learn to slope their book down-hill whereas those using their right hand will slope up-hill.
