Oak

This half term in Year 1 we are well and truly settled into our routines and are growing in confidence as Year 1 children!

Our topic is Whizz, Pop, Bang - beginning with the Gunpowder Plot and moving onto fiction and facts linked to the night. In Maths we are securing our knowledge of subtraction as well as finding out about shape. We will then return to place value to ensure this is fully embedded before the end of term!

In other areas, we are producing some super art around the theme of Colour Chaos, and we are investigating changing seasons in Science.

We will soon begin rehearsing for our Christmas production, and are already beginning to learn all our songs! It's a very busy half term, with lots of fun, singing and most of all... glitter! 😊

Please check our weekly Preview Learning for further updates and activities you could be sharing at home with your child.

Please keep reading as much as possible at home – daily if possible, and don't forget to practice counting, reading and writing your numbers too. Please also make sure your PE kit is in school and as the weather is still nice, we will be going outside so please bring suitable plimsolls or trainers. Don’t forget to check your name is on all of your kit and uniform!

Thank you for spending the time to read, research and explore with your child.
